DS GLASS

DS (Double Safety) Glass is a special type of glass that combine the safety features of two types of safety glass; tempered glass and laminated glass.

Tempered glass

provides safety to consumers at the time when the breakage of the glass occurs. It will crumble into small granular chunks instead of splintering into jagged shards as ordinary float glass creates. The granular chunks are less likely to cause fatal injury. The manuafacturing process of tempered glass is to heat the float glass in tempering furnace at 6500 C and then rapidly cool the heated glass. Its mechanical strength and thermal strength are 4-5 times of the ordinary float glass.

Laminated glass

Is another type of safety glass. It consists of two or more layers of glass, held together by interlayer film and heated in an autoclave. The interlayer film keeps the layers of glass bonded even when broken and its high strength prevents the glass from breaking up into sharp pieces.

Ds (Double Safety)

Glass passed the following test procedures of heat and humidity resistance and thermal shock.

*Heat resistance: Boiled in 1000c boiling water for 2 hours. No bubbles appeared in between the layers of glasses and the bonded glass remained intact.

*Humidity resistance: Put in a room of 600c with relative humidity 95% for 50 hours. No bubbles or haze appeared.

*Thermal shock: Placed under the temperature of  -400C for 30 minutes, then removed to a temperature of 800C immediately. No bubbles or haze appeared and the interlayer film remained intact.

DS (Double Safety) Glass is therefore the glass of two safety features combined. It also has the tolerance to withstand environment under humidity or heat.
